'I just wanted to thank you for such a lovely day’s painting with you
yesterday.
You are a very kind and encouraging teacher and it has certainly made me
want to get back again to painting. I wish you did weekly classes!!
However, I would certainly like to book for another day in your
studio….not quite sure which one to choose yet.
I will try and decide soon before they all get booked up.
Also thank your wife please for her wonderful hospitality and the
gorgeous lunch.
You certainly make your studio into a very warm and inviting and calm
space.
Thank you again
Pippa'

'Dear John,
Very many thanks for a great day yesterday. It was fascinating seeing how you paint and to try and put those techniques into practice. I can only admire your skill and patience. I now feel encouraged to take up my brushes again having forgotten what little I learnt ten years ago.
I'd love to come to another of your classes if I may.
Kind regards,
Chris'

"Thank you for another excellent workshop. I so appreciate your kind and supportive encouragement, the opportunity to be a party to your thought-processes when you are demonstrating painting and the step-by-step guidance you give when I am working on a painting afterwards.
Embarking on painting a watercolour can feel very daunting and for the beginning painter it can be really difficult to work out where to begin, which aspect of a scene to tackle first, what to leave out and so on. I am finding it so helpful to see how you go about tackling different subjects, what order you decide to work on different aspects of a scene, at what point you leave one part of a painting to dry and work on something else, and when you sense it is ok to return to the first part to drop in more colour or add some more detail. Working on a painting step by step in this way is so helpful for me, particularly in building my confidence as a painter.

HI John,
Thanks for the print (Heswall Shore) I purchased it mainly because I used to own the fishing boat on the right, my two brothers owned the other two boats, so you managed to capture the whole fleet in one painting, great!! I worked the boat single handed full time on the Dee estuary for 30 years fishing for brown shrimps, which sadly declined and it didn't make financial sense to carry on.
Thanks once again, Chris.

Hello John and Barbara
Thank you both so much for the very relaxing and enjoyable art work- shop
A very big thank you to Barbara for the delicious lunch,
What a lovely idea to unwind around a meal and conversation, so very civilised. I must thank you for allowing me the extra treat of enjoying your company and garden
So now it's a spring clean of my little studio, out with the old and new targets with new techniques.
So lovely and thank you, so enjoyed meeting you both.
Yours
Jo

'John is not only a gifted artist but a pleasure to deal with. Pre and post shipping John kept me regularly updated and checked-in to ensure the painting arrived safely. My wife and I describe the painting as breathtakingly beautiful. My daughter cannot stop staring at it - the light, the detail, the colours are all a joy to behold. The painting now proudly sits over our fireplace. I recommend John without hesitation not reservation.' Review from Mark for 'View to Bamburgh Castle from Inner Farne' on Artfinder.

Hello John
Many thanks for a very interesting day and for making Margaret and I so welcome. It was lovely to meet you all, and see your fantastic art collection, John, and beautiful home and garden. The refreshments and lunch were delicious too, Barbara. We learned a lot, and we both look forward to another visit in the future.

Very few people are gifted with a passion that they truly want to share, but John is one of those rare people. From the moment you meet both John and his wife Barbara, you can't help but be inspired and amazed for the genuine love they both have for the natural world. Walking into John's working studio is like entering Aladdin's cave - every picture has its own story that draw you into the locations they visit and invite you to enjoy the wonder of the nature and wildlife he captures. You can never tire of looking at John's paintings. I consider myself very fortunate to own two of John's watercolours (so far) and they bring overwhelming joy to us everyday. I cannot recommend his work more highly and would urge anyone to seek him out and invest in one of his masterpieces while you still can. less ?

A thoroughly enjoyable day with John , who was a very patient and skilled teacher. The whole day was excellent value for money, including a delicious home made 2 course lunch prepared by John's wife. There were only three people in the group ( maximum of 4) so plenty of 1-1 tuition. I will definitely be booking more courses.

I would highly recommend this course to anyone. The studio is a lovely space to be in and John is a wonderful teacher. He gave great whole class instruction and then would gently give tips for me (as a complete beginner) to achieve the result. The two other people on the course that day were experienced painters and it didn’t matter at all that I wasn’t. John’s wife kept us hydrated and fed with a delicious lunch and refreshments throughout the day.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable day and I was amazed at what I had achieved by the end of it.

It was such a satisfying day - thank you so much - I learnt more than I could have hoped for and I found the whole process very inspiring. I came away full of ideas and now I’m desperate to find the time to keep painting and improving! Thank you for your notes, I will study them, I am sure I will find them useful and I’m looking forward to practicing the new techniques.  Alison
