About

My art covers a wide variety of subject matter from general landscape and wildlife through to animal portraiture. Watercolour is my favourite medium for its softness and subtlety but I also enjoy working in other media.

I travel widely and always have a sketchbook and camera at the ready to capture the events that will form the heart of a new picture. This is developed through a free drawing process in the studio using all available reference for accuracy and detail.

I was delighted to be awarded the 'Christopher Parsons Award for artistic excellence' at the annual exhibition of The Wildlife Art Society International Annual exhibition in 2003, 2010 and 2011 for a portfolio of themed paintings. In 2012 I won the 'St. Cuthberts Mill award for the best work on paper. In 2016 I was awarded the 'Two Rivers' Sketchbook Prize at the annual exhibition of the Association of Animal Artists Society.
